why is the placement reference orientation always wrong

$

When I start a sketch in Creo (now 3), the orientation is very often different from what I want. I would like the orientation of the sketch to correspond to the orientation of the basic planes of my model, but Creo decides otherwise. Why is that? Is there a way to have the reference and orientation align? (top = top, right = right, front = front)

BOM and another table to fill

$

Dear All,

The problem is not entirely related to the BOM but has something to do with it. The problem is as follows. There is an assembly and the BOM formed on its basis (see the attachment below, the assembly is for visual clarity only). It is necessary for the assembly and on the basis of the BOM and BOM balloons, that have been assigned to this assembly, create a new table in which will be entered the BOM balloons (column "Поз.") already assigned to the assembly. The newly created table is also presented in the attachment. Why is this necessary? The goal is when one have large assemblies to study and the model name of the component does not match with the file name of that component, to quickly find the relevant component and its file name based on a BOM balloon. Please, take into consideration that the BOM is designed according to unified system for design documentation of Russian Federation.

P.S. POS_ASM - is the symbol name of the BOM balloon.

How can I recover unsaved Parts and assemblies in exact form after Fatal Error?

$

Dear all Creo Users,

Sometimes I encounter fatal error in creo after some repetitive failed attempt of selecting or some unknown reasons. I have used the searchbar and searched the ptc community for fatal error topic and find that some experts are saying about traceback. What are tracebacks? Are these trail files? Can it help to recover part, assembly files?

How can I recover my parts and assemblies and drawings in exact form after this error occurs. Usually ptc creo software completely shuts down after I click ok on fatal error.

Any suggestions, ideas, discussions regarding this will be helpful.

Soumya

Vibration Analysis in PTC Simulate 3.0

I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on how to begin a simple vibration analysis in PTC Simulate 3.0.

What I've done so far:

Modelled: A plate, attached to a mass using 4 bolts (in red) as shown in the simple diagram below.

Applied Loads: Applied 1g (where g is gravity) loads in X, Y, and Z directions

Preformed a Modal Analysis

What I would like to do:

I would now like to apply vibration loads in X, Y and Z directions to the model. I would then like to view the stresses and deformation in the plate as a result of these vibrations. How do I do this.

Baby steps would be much appreciated.

Can we pop-up reminder to save data after every 30 min by using ProToolkit to avoid data loss if creo crash ?

Hi,

We are facing lot of problems of creo crashing and losing all work. we inform to all our designer to save data regularly but some times they forget and lose all important work after crash.

so i want to pop-up reminder after every 30min or 15min to save model, so designer can remind to save the data which will help to reduce work loss.

If it is possible then pls can you guide me process (If API included then its really helpful to me)

Thanks,

How to open BOM file created in Microsoft Excel in creo drawing?

Hi Creo Users,

In various cad softwares, any holetable, bom, sheetmetal bend tables which are created in microsoft excel  can easily be read and  linked in drawing modules in cad softwares.

In creo drawing there is a table option which open only .tbl file. How to create that .tbl file manually?

Is there any other way to open or link ms excel file in creo drawing as bom or other table?

In the other discussions about excel tables that I have searched with the help of search bar,  other Creo users say that first you have to convert excel file to .csv. Why? Cannot we directly open ms excel files?

Soumya

Rectangular helical sweep feature

Hello out there,

is there anybody out there who knows how to create a rectangular helical sweep Feature, as in the shown black and white Picture?

Rectangular helical sweep feature.jpg

I tried my best to get a solution, but it is not to be used. The gradient is somehow not constant in the red area to the blue area. The reason is the great difference between the inner radius and the outer radius. If the shape of the required rectangle increases, or edge lengths are the same length (quadrangle). Then the slope becomes more linear.

Is there any help out there?

Improve design of sectionplate

Hi folks of the internet. I've constructed a section of a floor which is going to support people walking over it on a daily basis and at maximum support a small forklift of 5 ton weight.ptc1.PNG

And top view:

ptc2.PNG

The top plate is a 0.4'' (10 mm) and the beam profiles are hollow rectangular with 120x80x6.5 (mm). The structure is going to be supported on the short sides while the mid section is free in the air. The profiles are welded with a4 in the frames and dot weld in the plate around the frame.

My question is if there's any obvious changes i can do to improve the structural performance of this design without overusing material or make it to complex for the manufacturer.

Cheers Robin.

table from excell imported to schematics?

Hello there,

does any one knows if there is a way to import a table created in excell to schematics?

or a picture?

or how can I create an empy chart in Schematics so that I can input the text manuallly?

when you create your wiring diagrams and embedded BOM can be generated, right? however not always you got all the components drawn, for instace, when wiring a junction box that uses terminals blocks, you do not draw the tag number however you need the part number for the tag´s on your BOM, what about the din rail? you also, or I do not draw it however needs to be in the BOM.

for things like that I would like to know how can I do any of the 3 things I asked above, I have looked and I have tried but no luck so far

I hope someone knows anything about

Thanks

haven't used creo in two years, got a couple questions.

Hello,

I just switched jobs and back to using Creo after two and a half years.

Im' having trouble with trying to remembering a few functions.

1) Im trying to move a slot looking shape. I copied all the surfaces pasted them under a new part in the assembly. used pattern to move it  to my new

location and merged it to subtract it from my model. everything looked good. then i hit the regenerate button and it exploded. I remember theirs a button

i need to hit so my new part isn't associated with the original but i cant remember for the life of me what it is.

2) if i'm going from one model to another model, am I suppose to hit 'erase not displayed' after i close out of one before  open the next. or what am i supposed to

do after i close out one model before going to the next.

Im sure ill have more questions, but these are the two that have me stumped at the moment. Any help will be appreciated.

Sheetmetal flat pattern vs unbend features, whats happening with forms and udfs?

$

I know if you create flat pattern, that feature stays at end of the model tree which is great, but forms and udfs do not show in the flat pattern.  If you perform unbend feature at end of model tree, the forms and udfs do show in the unbend.  Why forms and udfs do not show in flat pattern?

Compilation of Creo Toolkit Features

There is an example in Object toolkit which can be compiled and should generate C++ code to generate Creo Object Toolkit in C++. Everything is fine except, the source code for CreateElem class is missing. The code which should generate a feature is here: otk\otk_cpp\otk_examples\otk_examples_feat\OTKXWriteFeatAsCxx , it depends on OTKXSaveFeatCxx in this directory: otk\otk_cpp\otk_examples\includes . The C++ code for CreateElem class seem to be missing. Where I can find it?

I tried also to compile it against otk_cpp.lib, without C++ code of CreateElem. But I failed. How can I make it run to e able to create features?
