Creo 4 "Creo Services" install question

$

Has anyone found a way to silently install the Creo Services into a non-default folder using the creosvsc_64.exe file to install the services?

Running "creosvsc_64.exe /install /silent /norestart" will install the software silently, but it installs in the default location (typically c:\program files\common files\PTC).

If you run creosvsc_64.exe with the GUI, you can change the installation folder.  Additionally, if you specify a custom installation folder when installing Creo Parametric via the normal setup.exe file, the services get installed into the custom install folder.

I've tried the typical command line options (like /v"ADDLOCAL=ALL INSTALLFOLDER=C:\myfolderpath"), but they are ignored.

I am able to get the two .msi files that are used to install the creo agent and platform agent.  I can then either modify the .msi, create a transform, or whatever, but I'd prefer to not have to customize this part of the installation.

We create our own installation for Creo Parametric that doesn't use PTC's "xml" file method.  In the past we simply ran the .msi's for the Thumbnail Viewer and Creo Agent.  Since PTC has changed the installation of the Creo Agent into Creo Services (which installs both the Creo Agent and the Creo Platform via separate MSI's and into separate subfolders), we need to update our installation method.

We want to install the software into a different folder for security/scanning purposes.

I have a ticket open with PTC and await their response.

How to bring symbol in drawings to top layer in pdf export?

$

A symbol I've created always appears below other entities/drawings. This becomes obvious when making the symbol non-black. Geometry entities (black) appear above the symbol, and so do all other types of entities (e.g. text, datums, arrows, hidden lines, help lines, center lines...). I've tried adjusting the pen table and changing the type of entity of my symbol. This doesn't help, and it seems that symbols are always drawn below other drawings. I'm really missing something simple like MS Word's right click -> "Move Layer To Top" option. How can this be done?

Measure tool in Creo 3.0 M070

We're on Creo 3.0, M070 and have noticed a performance issue when using the measure tool (summary).  The assembly immediately bogs down and can't be rotated.  Switching the selection filter from "smart" to anything else seems to make it behave better.  I was wondering if there were other solutions that may address this, i.e. fixed in later build, config option setting, or something else we haven't thought of.

Roughing sequence and plunge feed

Dear all,

When using the roughing sequence to rough a pocket I see there is no option to enter a plunge feed.

When using an end mill this is essential in order not to damage the flutes.

I've tried entering a ramp speed and specify explicitly a ramp angle of 90° (which is the default setting).

This has no effect on the resulting toolpath. The only feed applied is the default cut_feed.

2017-04-20_11-02-40.png

The volume rough sequence does have this option but I can't use that sequence for this particular toolpath.

Is it possible to specify a plunge feed with the roughing sequence ?

What's the easiest way to fix a routed cable that has a failed section?

I have created a network and I'm trying to route cables using that network.  Sometimes when routing a cable the "OK" button will be be grayed out so that you can't select it.

So I right-click on the cable I'm routing and click "Failures"

That shows me that the route is unable to maintain the minimum bend radius.

I'll take a look at the routed cable to see where it's failing

So that leads to my question...

What's the easiest way to fix this section so that it doesn't violate the minimum bend radius?

Creo 2.0 Planar Axis Flipping Issue

Software: Creo 2.0, Date Code M220

A colleague is experiencing an issue in which an axis created by a hole in the original planar wall flips direction after making an edit to a part and regenerating. I am fairly certain the axis from the original planar wall is the culprit, as the issue goes away when I create a datum axis and reference it instead of the axis from the original planar wall.

Below is the procedure used to reference the axis. This has been a standard procedure for years, and only now has this issue popped up. Is there a bug in the date code we're using and (if so) is there a fix coming?

I've attached the part for reference.

In sheetmetal, the sketch for the first planar wall has a circle in it that creates a hole after extrusion.

A hole (from Creo tool) was then created that references the axis made from the extruded hole of the original planar wall and the x-plane.

If an edit is made to the original planar wall (not "edit definition"), the hole and its reference appear to mirror across the plane perpendicular to the x-plane.

The hole remains in this incorrect position until the following procedure is executed on the original planar wall:

  • "Edit Definition"
  • References
  • Edit
  • OK
  • OK

If I change the referenced axis to a datum axis or one that I create by extruding a geometric point, the issue goes away.

Background:

This same method has been used on several parts in the exact same way and has only become an issue now. We are using Creo 2, Date Code M220.

Cabling in a big assembly

Hi guys,

I would like to know if it's possible to save only the cabling part of an assembly without making a copy of every pieces. I don't want the CAD of the assembly to be too heavy.

Thanks,

How do I change the mass/density of a harness part? I tried to change the mass properties and got zero pounds. I tried to change the spool parameters density, again to no avail. Any input?

AutoGEM Mesh creates error: This shape change invalidates the highlighted bearing loads?

Good Afternoon,

I'm trying to mesh an assembly and I receive the following error message:

"This shape change invalidates the highlighted bearing loads. Please delete the bearing loads if you want to change the shape of the hole."

I have no mesh controls in the model and I don't see anything that would cause the mesh to be incomplete.

The walls of the hole that the bearing load being attached to are parallel to the center line of the hole (not a tapered hole).

Anyone have any ideas what not allowing the model to mesh?

If I suppress the bearing load on the surface in question the assembly meshes fine.

Thanks,

Annotation & Model Manager Customisatio

Hi everybody, I am trying to do some customization of drawing frames by pulling information from model manager and need a little help with 3 things: 1. My date field is displaying on the drawing however it displays in the following format: mm\dd\yyyy where I would prefer it to be dd\mm\yyyy - how would I go about changing this in model manager admin. I have looked through the data dictionary entry "DT_DD_UTC_TIME" but cannot find anything obvious to edit to get what I am looking for. 2. Model manager automatically comes standard with minor and major revisions of data. I would prefer only major revisions - how do I remove the minor revision field? 3. Fonts - I am able to change the default font to Arial in annotation and everything looks fine except for symbols (welding, surface, gd&t) - these are still the original font. How do I get these to change to Arial? Thanks in advance!

Marker Designator showing up in drawing. Can't turn it off.

Hello all,

I am working in Creo 3.0 version M090 trying to update a cable drawing. As the current drawing stands in Windchill, the marker designator created in the harness doesn't show up on the drawing. When I check it out into my workspace to modify it, the markers show up in the drawing (and on the model) and I can't figure out how to turn them off. Turning off the annotation display doesn't do it, and they are not on any layers. I believe the drawing and model were created in Creo 2, but I don't think that is the issue because I updated a drawing yesterday that was created at the same time, and the marker designators do not show. Yet when I tried opening that same drawing today, they show up. See attachments.

Any suggestions? I tried everything but what works!

Thank you,

Pam

Sweep along a helical curve

hi

I am try to create   a model something similar to drill using helical curve and sweep I have followed following step

1. Create a helical curve using the equation

2. Create a sweep featuring by using the helical curve as the trajectory

3. I have created the sweep section as ball nose profile.

the radius profile moves along the helical curve but the straight line does not cut along the helical curve.

kindly help  I have also attached the image.
