ECAD-MCAD Collaboration using IDX
Hi everyone, thanks for your help in advance.
We are starting to migrate from using IDF transfer for ECAD-MCAD collaboration, to using IDX transfer format. We are currently using Mentor Graphics Expedition for our ECAD tool. Our environment is multi-cad - primarily Creo, but we do have some NX usage in the company.
We are looking to see if anyone has any previous experience or ideas for updating the IDX file output to support differences in the ECAD cell name (Model) and the MCAD model name. The MCAD models have a _CR or _NX suffix added to the ECAD name so that we can have different MCAD models stored in Windchill, based on the MCAD tool.
We are looking for info in creating a script (or scripts), or identifying where the IDX file needs to be updated, that will be able to add the appropriate suffix so that when we read in the IDX file into Creo or NX it will pull in the appropriate MCAD model. The other script for the converse will strip the _CR or _NX suffix when we go back to the ECAD tool.

Remove location not working

Is it possible to add a parameter with jlink that uses an External File for Restricted Parameters?
We have added a pulldown using the external file for adding restricted parameters. I want to be able to add this to existing CREO files with jlink. Does anyone know if this is possible? I have tried just adding the parameter like you would a regular one and that does not seem to work. On Creo 3.0 M110. Thanks.

Do I install node locked license on server or workstation?
My company has purchased a subscription of a node locked license of Creo. We currently have floating flex licensing on the server for other seats. When creating the license on PTC's site, do I use the workstation's host id or the server's?

Harness table not updating
I have a harness and added a pin parameter SEAL. I first edited the parameter directly and placed a value. In the drawing, there is a table with &asm.mbr.connprm.pin.SEAL. It showed the added values. To automate the selection of the value, a column was added to the term table. (For expediency, on the same line as a known good terminal.). Execute the term table. Connector parameters show new values as expected. When I look at the drawing, the values still show the original value even though it was over written by the term table. Manually changing the value doesn't do anything. I tried to regenerate at each level - assy, mfg, drawing with no success. Any thoughts on why the drawing table is not updating?

Dual Dimensioning - Tolerance Interpretation?
Hi all,
I'm curious as to what the consensus is on dual dimensioning, when the drawing references ASME Y14.5M-1994. I can't find any language in the standard that is specific to allowing or not allowing dual dimensioning. Sections 1.4c and 1.4d both seem to say as much without actually stating that it is not to be used.
"( c) Each necessary dimension of an end product
shall be shown. No more dimensions than those necessary
for complete definition shall be given. The
use of reference dimensions on a drawing should be
minimized.
(d) Dimensions shall be selected and arranged to
suit the function and mating relationship of a part and
shall not be subject to more than one interpretation."
It seems that a drawing listing dual dimensions would require a general note, stating that one of the units of measurement is for reference only. Which in my opinion, would make it useless to dual dimension and only serve to waste space on the drawing. A drawing without this note would allow a manufacturer to cherry pick tolerance conversions and still be correct.

importing curve from ibl file and ATB update
Hello, I'm trying to import curve from ibl file. When I change the file and update curve via ATB the children features lost the reference to this curve. Is it bug or property or exist there some setting to correct this?

Number parameter without digits
Hi everyone,
i want to "label" one of the parameters into my part. So far no problem using the text sketch tool and extrude feature. However, the text shows also all of its digits which means instead of "300" i get "300.000000", which makes it already impossible to get only one parameter labeled.

itos function not rounding off my dimension, any solutions?
Hello all,
1. I am using itos function to assign values to variables to be displayed in the drawing in a specific formt. So far its going good and itos command always rounds off the value of a dimension and then assign it to the variable for display. But in one of the part I am having this issue that its not rounding off the value of a dimension, i have taken this dimension from analysis tool and saved it as feature in the model tree as "LAENGE" (means length in English). Help me out here.
2. Also i have another problem that sometimes I want a specific dimension value not to be rounded off when it is called using itos function, what would be the function for that, which i should use in my program?

How can I set the layer status for all drawing views
I have a hose routing drawing with 8 pages and round about 40 views and need set the layer status for all acc. to xxx.drw
I started to set them view by view with "Copy status from drawing" but this is really annoying especially when you have to wait 10min for regeneration after every change due to "drawing size".
Is there a possiblity to set the layer status for all views in one step acc. to the defined status for the drawing? (Remove of independency for views)

I wanted to try the mechanism modul, for displaying some results from 1d_system simulation in Creo (Mechanism)
I can for instance attach the displacement profil on a piston and observe then how my valve really works.
Anyway now I wanted to add the motion of spring (compression) and I found this video:

Complete truck restructure for serviceablilty
I am looking to restructure a truck assembly in creo 3.0 for serviceability. The truck designers have it structured in a way that is different than we would like it serviced. To fix it, I will need to create a bunch of new assemblies with smaller assemblies within. These assemblies will be structured based on how the parts come off of the truck (if that makes sense). Does anyone know the steps that need to be taken to do this? And if geometric constrains will be broken if this is done? I need the parts to keep the location even if the parent/child relationship is broken. thanks!

What is the best way to automate and get cut length/perimeter of sheetmetal part?
What i mean is is it possible to use map key or tool kit or create a batch file so that whenever i open a sheet metal part and run a command it gives me perimeter of the part. which is basically cut length which will be used to calculate tonnage. Thanks!

Prescribed temperature to a beam element

Sheetmetal corners : is it possible to use a user defined corner relief in flange feature ?
Hello,
The available corner relief in the SMT flange feature are V notch, rectangular, circular and oblong.
Is it possible to create custom corner reliefs via user defined corner reliefs, within the flange feature menu ?
Is there a config.pro option to allow this ?

Running CAD Workers as an administrator on Windows Server 2012 R2
We have been attempting to set up CAD Workers on a virtual server with Server 2012 R2 OS. The problem is the OS requires the Creo and Worker and helper and monitor etc. to be "Run as an Administrator". I am looking for a wan to disable this or a global setting to allow the required probrams to run without the constant granting of permissions.
PTC tech support doesn't seem to have a resolution.
Any ideas?
