Sheets

Hello,

I´m new with "Sheets" ("blech" in german). I have been trying two whole days to make a sheet with cuts that can be rolled into an octagon, like origami. I have tried with Flach. Also using a lot the tools Profil Planar and Abwickeln (my Creo is in german), but at last I can´t permorm it.

Have someone an idea how could I do what the picture shows?

It would be nice that it can be folded and unfolded.

Thanks a lot.

Confidentiality

Slightly off the actual modeling of a part but the question was asked of me today, what do we do to insure confidentiality of our models that we send out. All of our drawings have a confidentiality statement but we were advised by a new supplier that that statement did not specifically apply to models. This is concerning because I do send models out during the early development stages of a project without drawings. I have never had an issue but now the seed of doubt has been planted.

How does everyone else handle this?

I am trying to use the student version of Creo 2.0 on my Surface Pro 2, but after i create a sketch and try to extrude it it restarts. Does not happen on my desktop running Windows 8.1 Pro (same version as my SP2). Any solutions? I have tried turing off my firewall and reinstalling and etc.

show Datum target on external threads

Is this even possible?  I can add a datum callout to the cylinder dimension easily enough, but THEN you can't overrite the driven dimesion to only have the thread callout.  Using an added dimension to permit overriding to show the thread callout and you can't show the Datum note. Why does something this common be so problematic?  Am I missing something basic here?

Parametric square spring?

I'm trying my hand at modeling different types of parametric spring models, but I'm running into issues creating a rectangular spring. I am trying to make a parametric model of the magazine spring in a 1911 pistol (http://michigancenteroutdoors.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/webassets/wolff_69162.jpg). I have succesfully created a model using a slightly tweaked version of the method shown for creating a square spring on YouTube, but the it doesn't update correctly. Here are the issues it has:

1. When the pitch parameter is changed, the trajectory for the sweep fails.

2. This method doesn't take into account that the overall width of the spring changes as it flattens out.

3. The current method requires too many steps.

If anyone out there knows of a better way to go about modeling this, I would love to hear from you. I'm attaching a copy of what I have so far for anyone that is interested in taking a look.

BTW, I am using WF4.0.

This proves beyond a shadow of  doubt that PTC are deliberately messing with me.

Hello

My name is Moin.
I am a student of The University of Queensland. I have recently tried to download and install PTC Creo 2.0 (Student Version).
As per the Universities Faculty instrcution I have done pretty much everything and the download happened in a breeze

However, during installation, when the step to enter the 22 Digit Licensing Code comes, the field where the code has to be entered do not work at all. Its like the field froze or something. I click but it just do not work.

I have consulted with the University IT people regarding it, they said that the version has been updated and that now I will not be having a problem as such.
Unfortunatey, the problem , same as briefed about peristed and now within a week I have to start using Creo 2.0 for my project work.

Can anyone provide me a possible solution, please?

Anyone encountering similar problems and all?

Help with Creo

Hi all,

I'm new to PTC and Creo, and I just started working through the 'How to Model Almost Anything' .zip cirriculum that you can find floating around here somewhere. But whenever I try to open the assembly of the first exercise -- a bike -- after setting the correct directory, nothing happens. I don't even get an error message. I can open part models in the same manner, and it works, but not assemblies. Am I missing something completely obvious? I'd appreciate any help you have time to offer.

Thanks,

Jack

How to flatten the inner vanes of transit mixer drum

$

I have been trying to create  the inner vanes of transit mixer drum. As you can see in the images one vane is clockwise and the other vane is anticlockwise which has been color coded green and yellow respectively.

The problem is that:

I am unable to flatten the inner spiral and hence unable able to get developement length of the inner vanes nor the inner and outer diameter of the vane in such a way that after cutting/dividing the vanes in sections  for example at an angle of 120 degrees,

since in real world the sheetmetal has to be cut in sections either by laser or plasma cutting and then twisting each section by beating with hammer and then welding it on the inner periphery of the drum  inorder to take shape of a spiral.

The inner and outer diameter and flat pattern of  each section of the vane is required after flattening it since it has to be sent for laser cutting in 2d

I have been try to find a solution for days but have been unsuccessful so far please help me out

Questions about fundamentals

Hello

I am new to Creo. I am trying to learn it, on my own, as quickly as possible. I've been a drafter for many, many years. I am an expert in another two applications. I apologise ahead if this is not the right place for this question. If this is the case, I would appreciate it if you could direct me to the right place.

The way I am learning, is by going through as many tutorials and materials as I am able to find online. Many of them have shown me many neat things that Creo has.

My first fundamental question has to do with Part Master, or Master Model - I am even unsure of the proper terminology.

As I understand it, this refers to a model (or assembly, perhaps?) that includes all the design intent. This model is restricted, locked, and controlled by the project's 'owner'. As such, it seems to me that the primary purpose of this would be to have one or more people create variations of this master model, with it remaining intact, perhaps for the goal of evaluating iterations or maybe to generate families of parts that vary in size or that have a shape variation from the original master model.

Is that statement correct? If not, can someone correct it for me?

In Creo, what is the procedure to create a part as a master model,or to define an existing part as one? Can anyone provide an example, or point to one?

A 1.1 question would be if the master model concept applies to assemblies in a way different from skeleton modeling?

My second question is with regards to skeleton modeling. Again, the concept is understood. In one of the tutorials I did, the skeleton was created as a skeleton part, a basic mechanism sketch was created there, and two parts were subsequently created using coordinate system references for placing them in the assembly. In other words, there were no 'direct relationships' established between the sketch geometry of the parts that were created and the actual sketch geometry of the skeleton. In that tutorial, CS were placed in key points of the skeleton sketch, and later, when the parts were made, they were placed using assembly constraints between their CS and the ones that were placed in the skeleton sketch, as needed.

Is this just one way of doing this, or is this the way of doing it? I mean, if I'm making the sketch of a new part, in the context of the assembly, and I project the relevant geometry from the skeleton sketch, wouldn't a relationship be created where any changes in the skeleton sketch would control the sketch (and therefore, the feature), of the part?

The last question for now, has to do with deriving parts from existing parts. This is a topic that I am just about to begin researching, so I guess I'm just mentioning it here, not really asking yet. I'll be creating a simple part, and then I want to generate other parts based on it. The generated parts can have variations in size and even shape. Whenever the original part is changed, that change would ripple through the derived parts.

I truly appreciate any time you can spend shedding some light in these questions.

Slanted fill pattern.

Dear community.

The company I work for hired a design firm to come up with some new design all our machines should follow. The problem is they came up with a design, we cannot make in a reasonable way in Creo.

The final product should look something like this:

Færdigt mønster.png

The problem is, there's no option in fill pattern to do a slanted pattern.

The best way we have found to create the pattern is to make an oversized sketch pattern like so:

sketchpatt.png

We then make an extrude, where we project the sketches, that fit within the area we need the pattern like so:

extrude.png

The problem we're facing is, that for every project you make in one feature, the slower the machine works.

It doesn't take long before the machine becomes completely unstable and crashes.

I hope you understand my problem, and that someone has a better way of doing this?

Please just ask if I haven't been clear enough in explaining the problem.

Thank you

Lars Kasch

Drawing Common Name

Is there anyway to automatically set the Creo parametric common name of a drawing to the same as the common name for the linked Creo part / assembly?

I want to have the common name field automatically copied from the part to the drawing for use in Windchill.

Thanks,

John
