Creo 2.0 Issue with Assemblies

Hi, I'm new here. Maybe this issue has a common, easy answer.

Creo will not open any assemblies, or create any new ones. It doesn't explain why, either. You can click on assembly files to open them, or create new ones, name them, and click 'create' or whatever, and then nothing happens.

The issue is with Creo Direct 2.0 Has anyone run into this before?

Thanks!

Remove "empty" area outside drawing view

Hi everyone,

I’m new to PTC Creo, but come from 5 years in Autodesk Inventor. My question is, are there any way to “trim” the “empty” area outside the actual model on the drawing. On many of my drawings it is quite time-consuming to select another view, when they are overlapping, even though I can selecte view in the Drawing Tree, I'd like to clean up my drawing, to make it easier to work with.

I’ve enclosed an image of my problem

Hello,

I need to open a PVZ file in Creo Illustrate but I need to open a specific view of my model.

So, in attachment a screen capture shows representations I want to open in Illustrate.

Is it possible to do this ? I don't find the way.

Assembly Problem

I built a part within my main assembly. I then took this part along with others and moved it to a subassembly. Inside the subassembly, i created a slider conection. It is free to move within the subassembly but when I go back in to the main assembly, it will not. The message i receive is "You may not drag a model belonging to the ground body." Does anyone know how i can solve this problem?

A couple of questions

I wonder if anyone can refresh my memory. I can't find the answers using my friend Google, but I'm sure they have been answered before:

We are using WF4, by the way.

1. Why does a part regenerate twice when I hit regenerate? I know I should know the answer, but I forget... It's not usually noticeable, but I have a part with lots of text and a warp feature, so the regen process happens in slow motion.

2. When I import a sketch into sketcher, how does Pro/E decide what the default scale value should be? It seems to be a different, apprently random, number less than 1 every time. (supplementary Q: Is there a way to set the default?)

3. When I import a sketch into sketcher, why does it appear to 'snap' into positions as I drag it around? Where are these positions and how are they defined? For example, I dragged one in and dropped it on a 'snap' point and it added a grey dimension of 15.632456. (Same suplementary Q.)

I look forward to being reminded o the answers.

Cheers,

John

Parameter for Operation name

Hello all,

I want to make family table for a manufacturing project. For each instance I would like to make the operation name different. So I was wondering what is the parameter for the operation name ? Or any other way to achieve this ? Thanks

Saving the asm downloads all family table instances into workspace.

Hi all,

I have a problem with Creo2.0 M100 and Windchill 10.2 M020

I have an assembly in which I used one instance of a family table. If I look at my workspace there is the asm, parts, drawings and the gereric part of the family table and the instance part of the family table as well as the format of the drawings and the wt-parts for all of them.

If I now open the asm and change something what does not effect the family table parts at all and try to save the asm, a conflict window comes up. I use Make read only for all the parts I don't want to change (all the parts in the conflict window are the instances of the family table). After I click OK all family table instances are getting downloaded into my workspace and flooding my workspace.

Is there a setting that prohibits the download of the not used instances of family tables?

Thank you all, I appreciate your help.

Hi,

I am developing an smart parametric model with very complex geometry, and I am still trying to figure out how to relate one surface area to another. Is there any way to define a relation to relate one surface area is a ratio of another? Can Creo do this?

Thanks,

Looking for answers in connecting to a Creo Session using Excel VBA

$

Hi.  I've been battling this issue for quite a while now, and I can't sesem to find adequate answers to help me with this.  (I've spent hours browsing through documents and on the net.)  I seem to be stuck at one point in my code, (in vba excel) regardless of the example code that I've used and it is with the

CCpfcAsyncConnection.Connect() method.  For one thing, I don't understand the arguments that are required.  (I'm unable to find any explanation as to what the correct values should be for the arguments; Display, UserID, TextPath, TimeoutSec.  Most of the examples I have seen use a null value, e.g

Set cAC = New CCpfcAsyncConnection

Set asyncConnection = cAC.Connect(dbnull, dbnull, dbnull, dbnull) or the dbnull is replaced with "DBnull.value."

In any event, this is where I'm stopped in my efforts to connect to a current Pro/E session. The error msg is always the same - "pfcExcpetions::XToolkitCantModify." I only have a single session open with a single part, and I have no other threads tied to it (as far as I know).  I have set the PFCLS_START_DIR environment variable to \x86e_win64\obj\ ,and I have set the PRO_COMM_MSG_EXE environment variable to \x86e_win64\obj\.  I also have the PRO_DIRECTORY environment variable set to C:\%\Creo 2.0\.  (I don't know that this variable shouldn't be set to the xtop.exe directory.)  And I have executed the vb_api_register batch file as administrator.  (I have even run the batch file from the command window after removing the @echo off to watch the command flow.)  As far as I can tell, I have jumped through all of the hoops.  What am I doing wrong??  I just can't imagine that this should be this difficult.  I have also tried an example in Visual2010 on another machine without much luck.  I'm trying to do this in Windows 7 on a 64 bit intel machine, Creo Parametric 2.0, and with Excel 2010.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  (I don't have access to the PTC eSupport, so I cannot use any links to that service.)  Thanks!!

Contact tolerance in Creo 2C

$

Hi all,

when you start a non linear analysis, the default tolerance at which each step the program tends, is 1e-14.

iterazioni.JPG

In WF5 you could modify this parameter inserting a windows environment variable called "MSE_CONTACT_TOLERANCE_FACTOR", as you can see at page 22 in the attached pdf.
This thing does not work with creo 2.
I don't find anything in the help.

Thanks.

Use of http://www.mobiusid.com/trail_maker_v2.htm in Creo2

Has anyone tried using the trail maker from Mobius Innovation and Development on Creo 2 Parametric files?

I am having problems generating the trail file. The generated trail file is dropping the last digit on the part numbers.

This program has been around for a while and was originally developed by Edwin Muirhead.

It looks like the newest verson was created around the WF 4 timeframe. I haven't seen anything else like it

and I'm hoping that there may be a newer version of it somewhere.

How do you cut imported metal?

$

Hi,

First off, I apologize if this was answered in a previous post, I searched but didn't see anything similar to my question.

So I am trying to cut a piece of metal that I imported from VEX Robotics (Inventor part) in Creo 2.0 Acedemic edition. http://content.vexrobotics.com/cad/STEP/VEX_Aluminum_STEP.zip I don't have access to a computer for a while so I apologize, this is the best I can do on an iPad .  I'm trying to take a 1x5x25 piece of C-Channel and cut it to 1x5x15 so I can save it as a new part and use it for multiple assemblies without deleteing the 1x5x25 piece. I have messed around for many hours but cannot find a way to cut the metal.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank you!

Jake

Disable plotter pen?

$

I am trying to setup a plotter configuration to create TIFF images in Pro/E WF 4.0. I have the .pcf and pen table files (copied from existing config) configured and everything is working perfectly except for one minor detail. The problem is that our drawing formats have a box outlining the area where the drawings are stamped when paper copies are created. The idea is that the drafter should stay out of this area when creating the drawing, but it shouldn't show up when the drawing is plotted. Unfortunately, every time I create a TIFF image (or Postscript file) it draws the stamp outline.

After a bit of tinkering I have figured out that the line style/color for the outline is associated with pen 8 in the pen table file. What I would like to do is simply disable pen 8 so the box is not created but I can't figure out how to disable a pen. I have tried setting the color to white, the thickness to zero, and even tried commenting out the pen 8 definition. No matter what I do, the outline still shows up.

Is there a way to just turn off the pen so it doesn't plot anything?
