Family table woes, Neutral data error...

$

Hello everyone,

I am trying to restore a family table instance that was previously removed (I assume by accident.)  While following the steps listed in document CS4975 I am getting the following error:

Instance(s) [CAD Part  - 9p-102-00016.prt, -.20] do not have same neutral data version as the generic CAD Part  - 9p-102.prt, A.3 and hence cannot belong to the same family table.

If I open the generic from commonspace, there is no table row for the -00016 instance.  However, in an old offline version of the generic file I can find the instance and see everything it needs to have (everything seems to open properly.)  There is an "instance" with the correct name in the commonspace but opening it, then opening it's generic, results in a table that has no separate data in the family table fields, only the three collumns for Type, Instance Name, & Common Name.

Any thoughts from the experts here?

I am running creo elements/pro 5.0 M210 and PDMLink 10.1 M020

Thanks!

Landon

How to transfer only specific required mapkey from one config.pro to other config.pro, without affecting other mapkeys or other configuration option.

Requirement is the other configuration options are different for first config.pro file & second config.pro file.

Means replacing the config.pro solution is not required.

Hi All,

Whenever we do a model or drawing check-in, which type of check-in should be used ideally so that we can see updated images in Creo View 2.0 ?

There are 2 options available Auto check-in and Custom check-in.

What is the difference between both of them ?

Thanks.

mapkey to fix all the views

When i was working for a different company, someone had created a mapkey, to create all of the isometric views from the front view.

what i would do, is go to front view.  or, define the front view.  and then type FV "mapkey for fixviews"

and the program would reorient for all of the views, front, top, back, right, left, isometric, also all the bottom right, bottom left iso..

does anyone have the coding for this?    or do i have to create the mapkey myself.?

Hi,

I have a mutisheet drawing with Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3 and Sheet4 on it. On Sheet1 is active model Part1, on Sheet2 is active model Part2, on Sheet3 is active model Part3 and on Sheet4 is active model Part4.

I wonder how to toggle to Sheet1 and get CurrentModel value as Part1, then toogle to Sheet2 and get CurrentModel value as Part2, then toogle to Sheet3 and get CurrentModel value as Part3 and at last toggle to Sheet4 to get CurentModel value Part4 via WebLink.

Thanks for any help.

How to Clear CREO 2.0 Parameter Names

$

0

I used parameter names (tools/parameters) to set up the model to be parametric with ANSYS Workbench. I am creating a new model and want to use the same parameter names as another model. I started a new session of CREO 2.0, created a new part, named the dimensions and then when I tried to create the parameter, I got a message that the Parameter name was already in session.

How do you clear parameter names? The old names do not show up in the Parameter List.

Creo 3.0 angled volume

I have a volume with an angled top.  I have set the angled surface to be the "top surface" in the toolpath settings.  When I try to run a volume rough on it, the tool drops down until it fits all the way into the volume, putting it around a half inch deep on the one side.  Looking around through the Creo 3.0 help documents online, I believe that the manufacturing parameter fix_skipped_slices is what I need to use to fix that.  Problem being I can't find that parameter.

Would somebody be able to guide me to it?  Or even just verify it actually exists in 3.0?

Or suggest another method to rough this volume without making it flat-topped and taking mulitple air passes on one side of the volume?

Need help with Creo 2.0.

I downloaded the student version of Creo 2.0 and when i try to open Creo a message comes up, "Creo 2.0 from PTC has stopped working" then it forces me to exit out of the program. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything with no luck. I was told to update my graphic card driver and i checked into it and its up to date. I'm using a lenovo w500 with a ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 graphic card. Creo lists the qualified graphic cards for certain computers but the w500 is not listed. Another possiblity is that the Quality Agent program is not working. When I click on it from programs and features it has an option to repair. i clicked on it and it doesnt seam to do anything. Can anyone help? I need this to be running by monday and ive been trying to fix this for about a week.

    Dim func_AsyncConn As pfcls.CCpfcAsyncConnection

Set func_AsyncConn = New CCpfcAsyncConnection

Set class_AsyncConn = func_AsyncConn.Connect("", "", ".", 5)

End Sub

I have "traced" the problem using breakpoints, and the crashing line is the last Set. The error for me is very generic in nature:

Run-time error '-2147352567 (8002009)':

Automation error

Exception occurred.

Lookin in WinError.h, i didnt find any explanation:

//

// MessageId: DISP_E_EXCEPTION

//

// MessageText:

//

// Exception occurred.

//

#define DISP_E_EXCEPTION                 _HRESULT_TYPEDEF_(0x80020009L)

     Microsoft says ..VSConstants::DISP_E_EXCEPTION Field:

This return value indicates that the call generated an exception.  The usual implementation is to specify that an argument of the method that returned this error is a pointer to a structure that contains exception information.

But i cannot dig any deeper than this, i dont know how to check for the pointer and the exception.

I have set the PRO_COMM_MSG_EXE and PRO_DIRECTORY global variables and registered the server with vb_api_register.bat. Nmsd.exe and pro_com_msg.exe are also running and while running the code it also opens pfclscom.exe for a while.

If i have not lost your interest until this point by making you read so much, please offer some insight as to why this is happening and how can it be made to work properly.

Thank you very much : )

Load a drawing symbol out of Windchill with web/link?

Hello

does anybody know how to load a symbol out of windchill to drawing using web/link.

I have this in my script.

var symDef = CurDrawing.RetrieveSymbolDefinition (SymbolName, SYMFOLDER, null, true);

I know the place where the symbols are which I want to load, but I don't know the correct syntax of FilePath for Windchill-Folders

API says this

RetrieveSymbolDefinition(string FileName, /* optional */ string FilePath, /* optional */ integer Version, /* optional */ boolean UpdateUnconditionally)

Creo customization VB.NET

Hi Everybody!

I'm starting with Creo customization. I've found that it can be done with VBA or VB.NET. Is it true?

Where can I find a good reference document with solid information about it?

If I use the Microsoft Visual Studio, there's a recommended version? How about VBA?

Drawing variants

Hi,

i have inherited a template for a product that we manufacture. it's basically a template .txt file with user customizable values and a sample asm, prt and drw files that regen based on the values from that file.

the problem is with drawings, they are always either not correctly magnified (too large) or runaway far away from the drawing border. the drawing format is always A3.

i am trying to minimize the time required for editing this template.

can anything be done about this two problems? the first one could be solved with autozoom option, but this produces too small view (we are trying to maximize view area).

the runaway view could probably be repaired by lock view position?

perhaps any other advices? i am on wf3 and probably won't update any soon

i will try to upload an img of the drawing tomorrow.

best regards, Robert

also, if there are any admins here, please edit my first name to robert rob.

UDF causes fatal error with pattern?

Hello,

I have created a UDF of an obround for use with a mapkey.  The obround has an internal coordinate system and associated planes for a fast, drag and snap placement.  When I place the UDF it is grouped as standard but will not pattern as a group, so I ungroup it and try to pattern but every time it gives a fatal error.  Is there a way around this or am I doing somthing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Toggle Chamfer On/Off with family table

I have a part that has some holes that are laser cut by a supplier and then internally to the company, have a chamfer added.

Is there a way in the Hole Tool to toggle on and off the chamfer through family tables so that I can have a vendor supplied part and then a finished part?

Currently, it has been on the same drawing with a note, but scheduling/recieveing is asking for it to be broken out.

Thanks, Dale
