Hip Joint Assembly

I've created my first movable assembly in Pro E Creo 2.0.  It's of a torso and leg with fully rotating hip joint.  When I click on Drag Components and swing the leg, I can swing it everywhere including into and through the torso.  Is there a way to have the leg stop and not "go into/through" the torso as if it really is solid?

Apply Decal Component to a Curved Surface in Assembly (Creo 2.0)

In my assembly, I have applied several stickers (decals) to the surface of my object.  However, several of these decals need to bend around a curved edge.  Is there any way to make a flat decal behave as a "sticker" in assembly mode?  I know how to make a projection feature in part mode, and that is not what I want to do.  The decals must be included as part numbers if a parametric bill of materials table is generated from my assembly.  Does Creo 2.0 have this feature?

I've attached a picture showing the current decal. I want the sticker to curve around the round edge in the picture, instead of sticking straight off.

Importing SpaceClaim file formats?

$

I am having difficulty loading exported Spaceclaim files into Pro-E. When using a .stp file, I am unable to the remove the hiddlen lines in a drawing view. A sectional drawing view is really affected.  I've tried multiple box selections in the files display area. Using a parasolid binary exported file from SpaceClaim gives me multiple layers that define each part. However, the hiddlen lines can be removed in the drawing views.

I have also noticed when trying to clean up the files using Import Data Doctor that round holes have multiple segments. By this I mean that they are composed of radii and arc segments for entities. I can use Import Data Doctor to clean up thes individual entities. However, this is time consuming to perform.

Is there a cleaner file format that I can import?

Is there a faster way to clean the imported geometry in Pro-E without having to delete geometry?

2 Suggestions for Creo 4 - Sketcher

Suggestion 1: SKETCHER

We all LOVE the delete Segment tool that has been around a long time.  Can you have another tool that does the inverse???

When I drag a line across 2 lines it could automatically extend them until they meet at a corner. If the lines are parrallel I guess it would automatically "forget the first line that you crossed, and wait for a 3rd line that can form a corner with the second.  I hope I am not making this more confusing than it is..

Could call it "Corner Segment or Extend Segment..... with a green squiggly line on the icon and 2 perpindicular lines that don't current meet at a corner"  This could be a flyout for the "CORNER" tool as another option

Suggestion 2: SKETCHER

When I am in sketcher and have sketched a box, I want to be able to pick on a corner of the box to place a radius that is trimmed and automatically tangent. Similar to picking an edge in modeling mode to place a radius. This may be tricky because the point would have to know that it is a corrner and not just the end of a line segment. But I suppose the command would just not work if you picked a point at the end of a line.   It would be a great feature though and save time.

I want to explode everything except for one specific subassembly (or a particular selection of parts... whatever there is available)

In the end, it should be possible to move these parts together when Editing Position

How to, guys ?

Unable to make a gear

I've attached a picture:

(consider opening on another tab to make it easier to see - middle button on many browsers)

1 - An axle/arbor (Pinned coincident to a datum axis - free on other directions)

2 - A gear (Well attached to the Axle, where it IS to be)

3 - Washer/Separator (attached to the gear and the arbor) [there's another one behind the gear]

4 - Inner runner of a ball bearing (Attached to the Washer/Separators (3))

5 - Outer runner of a ball bearing (pinned and aligned with the inner runner) - This part is important, because when I attach these parts to another assembly, the outer runner is the interface

More clarifications:

If I restrain the movement of the outer runners, I can still move (spin) the gear (which also moves the axle and the inner runners)

Which is the behavior I want

Why Creo disallows converting the gear onto a gear (when I attach these parts to another assembly containing another gear) ?

(Unfortunately, the orange circled arrow belongs to the bearing, not the gear)

Slider and Cylinder connections missing translation...

$

I am performing a basic slider connection between two parts, which I have done many times before, and I don't have the option to add my translation limits.  I am able to apply my axis alignment, and rotation constraints but the option for adding my translation does not exist. The 3D dragger shows that my only remaining degree of freedom is translation along the axis but I don't have the option to set the limits for it, which also gives me the error for connection definition being incomplete.  Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Bike frame, FEA, Creo 2.0

Hello,

Im strugling with a bicycle frame FEA for a while now (please check the pictures below).

After getting over some basic problems like absolute/relative accuracy values to mesh the whole thing, I have no errors during simulation, but unfortunately and probably, I have no convergency either. Solver is stucked at Time Step 1 (so no load), but its 106309 elements and I have slow PC.

So I had to ask myself a question...

Is it even possible to do this in Creo Simulate?  (I have seen this job done with Ansys)

The rear wheel should move for about 120 mm before the mechanism reaches equilibrium with spring stiffness I used. (120 mm only because it is a kids bike on 20" wheels)

I know that theres other way around this problem, which I was using the whole developing time and that is: mechanism + "use in structure", however I still want to compute the whole assembly.

I have some other ideas to avoid the movement of a rear axle and usage of idealized spring to get equivalent situation or load.

For example, have head tube fixed, suspension to known compression state with known force at the rear axle and fix pos.of both shock pins. But Im not quite sure if that would be the right way yet.

Any ideas?

Or, is it possible with spring deformation and wheel travel this big, to get some decent results?

I used contact only between bearings inner and outer rings and in some other parallel surfaces (see the picture below). I also used rigid links for the pins where the spring is attached to avoid stress peaks since the spring can be attached to points only. The rear axle is also defined as rigid as I dont care about stress values there.

Hello,

When i re-open a 2D drawing made in an template with title, date, etc.

It doesn't shows the title, date, etc. anymore

Well sometimes it opens sometimes it doesn't.

If i keep opening it again suddenly it's back.

Someone knows how i can fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Annotation excluded surface not patterning

I created a form that consists of a pattern of a revolve feature.  I need a surface set exluded on one side of  the revolve.  The annotation will ref pattern but only the first instance of the pattern is getting the surfaces excluded.  It seems the annotation is only referring back to the original pattern instance and not following the patterned features.

This is the form part and shows the pattern of features and the annotation for the excluded surfaces also patterened (ref), shown in orange lines.

form.JPG

During placing the form in the sheetmetal part, only the first pattern feature utilizes the annotation.

duringplacement.JPG

I can use the "Select all surfaces" in the annotation and it will exclude all the surfaces of the pattern when I place it in the part. But I only want some surfaces exlcluded and I cannot get it to do that.  I would like this pattern of annotations to work because even though my example shows a pattern of 5, in reality I will have hundreds of these placed in multiple parts and I do not want to manually exclude the surfaces of each and every feature.

Declare variable

I´m struggling with declaring variables for quiet some tiem. Someone showed me some months ago how to declare a variable and give a value to it and what I can remeber it has to do with notebook and layout. Unfortunately I can´t remember anything else and can´t figure it out.

What I intend to do is create a name which a value will be given. And this name I can use it in my part in the relations for example "mass=variable*5"   And the "variable" should have been created somewhere and somehow with a given value.

I know that when I go to my part I need to go to "declare variable" and then in Notebook select the layout... But how can I create this layout?

Thanks a lott!!

Multiple Assembly "Placement States"

$

I am wondering if there is a way to set different "Placement States" for one assembly.  For example, for a single subassembly, I could have multiple placement sets that would display when placed in different assemblies, and in different drawings. This would help on such items as bolt bags, where the same subassembly (the bolt bag) is used on multiple larger assemblies, but the bolts go into different places on each larger assembly.  Thanks for any help~
