Need help adding GD&T to a dimension with extra text

$

I am running Pro E Wildfire 5.0:

I am trying to find a way to add GD&T to a dimension in a drawing, but the dimension has "extra" text.  I want the GD&T to be located right below the entire "dimension" as shown below: (the .328 below is the actual dimension, everything else has been added in the properties tab)

correct gdt.JPG

However, the GD&T cannot be created "As A Free Note"  This seems to cause stacking of the GD&T boxes in our system, which ends up duplicating it 30+ times over itself.

When I try and add the GD&T as a "Dimension", it ends up locating the box below the first line of text:

Wrong gdt.JPG

I'm wondering if there's a way to embed this - e.g. add "&g0" to the end of the dimension? I've attempted this, but cannot find a way to link it together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Creo 2.0 Assembly help!

Hey

I'm new to Creo and have just begun assembling parts. The problem is when I try to create a part in Assembly Mode they always appear hollowed out. For example if I were to create a simple cube, the cube would be missing it's centre completely. This doesn't happy when working in Part Mode, everything is solid. Does anyone know what settings need to be changed to rectify this

Thanks in advance.

Hello

We have a parameter for the dimension. We call it "dim_drawn" and it shows in the drawing.

I want to show this in the drawing "30x20 L=100"

"30x20 L=" types manually but I want have 100 automatically from the model.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Issue when analysing assembly with contact+large deformation

I'm starting to use CREO simulate 2.0 because of its ability to analyse assemblies with both contacts and large deformation (I'm still designing my parts and assemblies with WF5).

Unfortunately, ##############I'm stuck in a "Decomp. Singular Stiffness Matrix. Recovering..." kind of loop (an analysis can run a couple of hours instead of a few minutes).

The assembly and analysis definitions were made in WF5 and opened/run with creo simulate 2.0.

Does anyone already have this kind of issue and know how I could get rid of it ?

Thanks !

hi,

I want to do a table with 4 columns which 3 of them are 3 different parameters. But I don't know how to organise them properly, when I do a repeat region, it put all the value of the parameters in the same column. I would like them on 3 separate columns, is it possible?

thank you

Simplified Rep Size

$

Hello All,

I have a large assembly which is composed of several sub assemblies and over 400 unique components.  I have created, what I believe are, lightweight reps (in terms of memory usage) of all of the sub assemblies in order to make my top level assembly more managable.  However, I am not having as much succes as I would have hoped.  I know PTC builds in several useful simplified reps such as the "graphic" rep but I am just not sure how "lightweight" they really are.  For instance I have a sub assembly which occurs 40+ times in my top level assembly.  Inside that sub assembly are over 200 small parts, a lot of which are internal.  What I have done in that particular assembly was created a simplified rep which consists of only the externally visible parts.  Thus, my sub assmebly went from 200+ parts to 8.  It would seem to me that this rep would be much lighter than the graphics rep of the entire sub assembly but this could be my lack of understanding about what is really going on in the graphics rep.

So now for my question...  Is there a way to determine the efficiency or file size of a simplified rep?  Also does anyone have any suggestions for improving model performance?

I am running Windows 7 64-bit with PRO/E Wildfire 4.0 - 64-bit with an Intel 2.3GHz i7 processor, 8GB ram, & an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB graphics card.

While I am on the subject of operating systems, with the 64-bit version of WF4 and Windows 7 do I still need to manually do some sort of "GB Switch" in order to take advantage of all the RAM?  Or maybe a better question to ask is, is there anything I need to do in order to take advantage of all the RAM my machine has?  I recall running the 32-bit version of WF4 on Windows XP one had to manually activate the 3GB switch.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

So i am looking for a few things here.

1. How do i remove the hole table title or change it to something more applicable then Hole chart....

2.is there a way to get teh hole tables to show more intelgent hole data based off the internal hole data from the hole coman?

3. Is there a way if i cannot edit the table correctly to lock a new table onto the end of the hole table and manual fillin the cells.

4 is there a way to not have the hole labels return to default location when i updae the table?

Thanls

Sorry if these seem like very basic questions but i just resently came back into working with PTC products and am trying ot work my way through the bumps i am coming across in the road.

Motion Skeletons

I am trying to use a Motion Skeleton to drive a pantograph mechanism.

I create my Motion Skeleton, create my Design Skeleton, create my (7) Body Skeletons, then try to put some limits on my axes.

Whenever I flex my Motion Skeleton, it seems hell-bent on folding up so that several of my Body Skeletons lie on top of each other. This is clearly not the case in the Design Skeleton. Once it has made up its mind to do this, there seems to be no way to get the offending Bodies to clamber off each other and resume a separate existence. It seems to me that the system has settled on what I believe to be an impossible configuration. Even if I am wrong, it is a highly unlikely configuration, and certainly not one that resembles the Design Skeleton sketch.

Now, call me an incurable optimist, but I am sure there must be an easy way to revert the Motion Skeleton to the configuration shown in the Design Skeleton. So far, I have been reduced to the age-old Pro/E recovery procedure of :

Delete the offending items and re-do them.

This is becoming tedious.

What clever twists am I missing?

Is there a 'Revert to Design Sketch' button staring me in the face?

Please say 'Yes.'

Cheers,

importing *.pts files into Creo 1.0

$

This seems like it should be fairly simple - go to "open" and bring in a *.pts file. But when I go to bring in a file, Creo doesn't even see the files, regardless of whether I tell it to look for all or just "*.pts". I've seen the actual physical data in the file and I can access it both in notepad and excel - in both cases, the coordinates are separated by spaces and not tabs. I've included sample data from the file and I'm not sure why I can't pull it into Creo. I'm also uncertain what that first line actually is (I think it's a count of the total number of points) and I'm wondering if just deleting that will solve my problem.

Hay CAD people,

We have a planned upgrade from Windchill 9.1 m60 to 10.1 m40.

We have some CAD users on Windows XP with a majority on Windows 7 using SolidWorks 2009 and Pro-engineer Wildfire 4.1

Along with the 10.1 upgrade we would like to move to Creo 2.0 and SolidWorks 2013.

Anyone had good/bad experiance with SolidWorks and WC 10.1?

Mechanica - The meshed study model is geometrically incompatible with the current model

Good Day All,

Have a bit of a problem with a assembly that I'm trying to analyze in Wildfire 4 Mechanica.  I have added 6 more parts with contacts and 4 mechanica fasteners to an existing assembly.  I have also added an additional torqure load using total load at point on one of the new components. I verified the material properties, and connections.

Without these new components I was able to run my analysis on the assembly previously.

Now I'm getting the following error and msengine crashes when the analysis starts phase 1 processes.

Error:

"The meshed study model is geometrically incompatible with the current model"

I think the above error from the mechanica status window is a indicator of the cause.

Anyone have any idea what might be the problem and what the fix would be?

Thanks for any help you can provide,
Don Anderson

Motion Skeletons

I'm curious if anyone has links to any more detailed tutorials or use cases on motion skeletons or any personal experiences they can share.  I've seen a few YouTube videos as well as the eLearning topics in the section on AAX.  I'm interested in more info, however.

Some questions I have:

  • Can there be more than one sketch in a motion skeleton?
  • How can I integrate a motion skeleton with other skeletons?
  • Can I use surfaces or other non-curve geometry with a motion skeleton?

The examples I've seen are simple, one cylinder engines which illustrates the power of the concept, but doesn't give much insight on integrating it within a more complex assembly where I need to control outer surface contours, part lines, screw boss positions and motion in more than one plane.

How are people using them in the real world?
